Editing is underway!

Specific Book-Related
It's taken a fair bit to reach this point. I had hoped I would have arrived here much sooner but it is what it is.
I'm currently working on my author revision pass. This is the first time I've actually gone back to the very beginning and re-read my manuscript. I was curious how I would feel about it. So far so good. I have discovered a mountain of changes I need to make, or have already made at this point. I anticipate I'll find many more.
Perspectives change over time. Memories are more clear, many have faded. I interviewed Adrian (my son), the get this perspective on events, many of which I was not even present to witness. These are very important to the story line, they fill gaps and explain a lot about what my family went through during this ordeal. I still have a few other people I need to interview and get their feedback. I'm even contemplating a second book told entirely from their perspectives, but more on that another time. Priorities.
I have met with a few potential editors at this point and their advice is the same, before committing to any of them, I should provide them with a fully edited and finished first chapter. They will in turn evaluate that section of the manuscript and provide their feedback, once they get used to my writing style and my 'voice'. I have yet to submit, because I have a handful of people proofreading it before I finalize. I will save both time and money for the editing process by having as polished a copy as possible.
If you'd like to pre-read any of my book beforehand, I'd love to have you join my beta-reader team. Just send a message using my contact form. For now I carry on diligently, getting excited at the prospect of actually publishing a book, my book, His story, shared through my lens.
I also have a progress tracker you can follow to see where I'm at. It's pretty cool!
Until next time!
