Mom and Dad's 59th Anniversary
This year my parents have been married 59 years! I am so blessed to have had their example to follow - not that their marriage was perfect, far from it, but rather that through thick and thin they always managed to make things work out, somehow.
There were financial hard times, health problems, teenage rebellion, new beginnings, more teenage rebellion, moving, a successful butcher shop that we all had a hand in running and did I mention teenage rebellion? I gave them a run for their money. Heartache and stress, I'm sure I kept their heads spinning at times in disbelief at many of the bat-brained decisions I made. In those 59 years however, I've matured, somewhat, and they have proved over and over that love triumphs over all, in life and in marriage, who is love?
Jesus is love and He was exemplified over and over again throughout their marriage. What an example and legacy to leave your children!
